The manticore is an impressive creature that has the body of a lion, the head of a human, and a tail with venomous quills. They originally came from a kingdom that has long since left Fantastica, but they now live throughout the current Nine Kingdoms. While some manticores live peacefully alongside other creatures in places like the Kingdom of Frost or the Kingdom of Whiskers, others prey on humans. Manticores aren't particularly interested in eating or hurting kitties since they are part lion themselves, but won't hesitate to attack if the kitty is getting in their way.
